21,300 people visited the OTWorld exhibition and congress over four days. Visitors from more than 90 countries of the world came to the Leipzig Exhibition Center to learn about developments and innovations in the provision of medical devices and to discuss the quality of service.
With 542 exhibitors and 330 speakers from around the world, the world’s largest trade show for orthopedic and rehabilitation technology offered a comprehensive overview of the prosthetics, orthotics, technical rehabilitation and specialty trade of the future. Orthopedic footwear technology was also well represented in the congress topics and among the exhibitors.
Signs of better quality care
“About 15 percent of the world’s population does not have access to health care or does not receive adequate care. This corresponds to approximately two billion people. This is a huge challenge,” explains Klaus-Jürgen Lotz, president of the Federal Guild of Orthopedic Technology Association. “In order to develop solutions for access and appropriate quality of care, experts from around the world need to come together and exchange ideas. Technical orthopedics is an interdisciplinary exchange based on partnership.”
Congress
President of the Congress Prof. Frank Bratz. “In particular, the alignment of the congress with everyday care and the focus on interdisciplinarity in line with the motto ‘From object to subject’ has proven very well.” In addition to the classic focus on orthopedics and prosthetics, the newly offered seminar presentations, courses and this open forum were very well attended and very well received by the congress participants.
The next OTWorld will be held in Leipzig in the spring of 2023. The program committee of the World Congress will be headed by Prof. Volker Büren, Chief Physician of Trauma Surgery and Sports Orthopedics at the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Clinic and Medical Director of Reconstructive Trauma Surgery and Orthopedics at the Murnau Accident Clinic.
